I want you to imagine. It is December 2nd, 1964 in Berkley at the advent of the Free Speech Movement. A young man steps forward to speak with his prepared speech called “Gears of the Machine.” He is filled with anger and passion. He takes a deep breath. Suddenly the microphone is taken out of his hands. Continue Reading
February 3rd there was a protest and Occupation of the Obama HQ in Minneapolis. Needless to say, the corporate media in Minnesota were not at all interested in this story. Fortunately for us, a number of credible media were present. The first video was created by Rouge Media alongside the Citizens Media group.Free Speech ZoneThe Free Speech Zone offers a space for contributions from readers, without editing by the TC Daily Planet. On Monday, September 25th the Minneapolis Star Tribune had a front page article on the release from Iran of three hikers. One of them, Shane Bauer is originally from Minnesota. The problem with the story is that it is based on falsehoods. The article can only be described as a thinly disguised propaganda piece. It is a serious and blatant lie of omission, which is how the mainstream media tends to operate in this day and age. Continue Reading
There have been protests outside of Wall Street. They have been continual and have been there since Saturday September 17. The protesters have occupied a park close to the now famous Ground Zero of September 11. The protests are there because of the perceived greed and complicity of those on Wall Street and their part in the economic crisis we all face today. Including the foreclosure crisis affecting millions of Americans and threatening the future of all of us.Free Speech ZoneThe Free Speech Zone offers a space for contributions from readers, without editing by the TC Daily Planet. Albert Hunt’s article Throw The Bums Out(August 3rd 2011) waspredicated on a false perception and premise. Present at the Press Conference and speaking in defense of those being spied on, was former FBI agent Colleen Rawley. These groups are the Anti-War Committee as well as Women Against Military Madness. In 2002 agent Colleen Rawley was made person of the year by Time magazine. It is my understanding that there were no “credible” “mainstream”(Corporate) media present at the Press Conference.Present was Twin Cities Indy Media and The Uptake. It must be noted that these raids, Grand Jury investigations and now exposed government spying of American citizens practicingour legal, First Amendment Rights are doing so under the direct orders of Attorney General ERic Holder. With the direct authorizationof president Barack Obama. Is that the hope and change that Minnesota voted for?So when will the “credible” corporate media start to report on newsthat really matters? When will it stop being a lapdog to those in power?Which is why they were included in the First Amendment in the first place. Continue Reading

It very well may have. From MPR to Fox News, CNN, NBC, Minneapolis StarTribune it has been the basic same narrative. Julian Assange may have “harmed US credibility and risked American lives.” To one degreeor another, Julian Assange is the villain.Free Speech ZoneThe Free Speech Zone offers a space for contributions from readers, without editing by the TC Daily Planet.
