FREE SPEECH ZONE | Protest At Minneapolis Office of Senator Amy Klobuchar

On April 13th, 4:00 p.m. at Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar’s office on Washington Ave in Minneapolis there was another peace protest. This is this Indy Media journalista’s report of the event. There was a gathering of about 80 people there, along with corporate media represented by KSTP, Fox News Channel 9/29, the Minneapolis Star Tribune and the St Cloud Independent. The first thing noticeable was the rather large number of grey hairs present. I am not sure if there was anyone younger than 40 at this event, except perhaps Melissa Hill. There was the usual assortment of signs, white tee shirts with red hand prints, obviously signifying blood stained hands and other types of political theatre props. At this stage I decided to do some interviews. It was time to ask some muck-raking questions.I approached some of the protesters and leaders and asked the same basic question: Free Speech ZoneThe Free Speech Zone offers a space for contributions from readers, without editing by the TC Daily Planet. FREE SPEECH ZONE | With deafening silence, City Council fails to reappoint Dave Bicking to Civilian Police Review Board (CRA)

Original article from Twin Cities Indy Media Submitted by smiley on Fri, 04/02/2010 – 12:06 Despite widespread community support and a history of fighting for better police accountability, Dave Bicking failed to be reappointed to the CRA at the April 2nd City Council meeting.  Dave Bicking was seeking a 4-year term to the board that deals with issues of police accountability and investigates complaints against the Minneapolis Police Department. For his dedicated work, Bicking has the support from over 314 community members who signed a petition online or offline. At the Committee of the Whole meeting on April 1st, the council listed four names for recommendation for the open spots: Arlene Santiago, Dean Kallenbach, Pramma Elayaperumal, and Mary Pargo. These candidates included two of Mayor Rybak’s pre-emptive choices. Dave Bicking was absent from this list along with other qualified candidates who also applied for the open positions.Free Speech Zone The Free Speech Zone offers a space for contributions from readers, without editing by the TC Daily Planet. FREE SPEECH ZONE | A Minnesota voice on Senator Al Franken

Let me tell you how this looks from the progressive, social justice, anti-war and election integrity activists right here, you know, in Minnesota. Al Franken for Senator is a sad pathetic joke. Big part of the story that has been missed was that there was another candidate who picked up 15% of the votes. Dean Barkley of the Independence Party, which is still a major party in Minnesota. I tried to be on the ballot but was unable to gain ballot access, which is an interesting, undemocratic story all by itself. Continue Reading

FREE SPEECH ZONE | Iran, Election Fraud, and Minnesota

I find it interesting that our government and media are in a flap because of allegations of election tampering in Iran. Who are we to speak to any other country about election integrity? In 2004, nine people went from Minnesota to Ohio, joining others all over the country because of allegations of election fraud there and elsewhere. I know because I was one of them. the free speech zone offers a space for contributions from readers, without editing by the tc daily planet. Continue Reading

Cavlan For US Senate Campaign Call For Impeachment

Dennis Kucinich just released 35 counts against George Bush, calling for Impeachment. He is being ignored by the media. We all need to condemn the corporate media fortheir continued betrayal of the public trust by it’s silence on this. This betrayal is even worse than the corporate media aiding the Bush Administration lies that got us into the illegal, immoral invasion and occupation of Iraq.
