An LRV is a light rail vehicle. I like to call them trains. On Sunday there was a test of the new Greenline in St. Paul. Apparently it is the first of many. They have to make sure that the trains actually run on the tracks without hitting anything or to “verify clearance for LRV’s.” Continue Reading
The Minneapolis Saint Paul Home Tour is this weekend. A great opportunity to see home renovations. I plan to visit a couple homes on 4th street on St. Paul’s East side. They were originally part of the “4th street preservation program”. Maybe they still are part of the program. At any rate they are owned by HRA which is a department of the city of St Paul. It is Friday and Fridays are for fun. The local news media even those who write for our newspaper. . .the one that has been serving the city since the late 1800s have a hard time understanding the geography of St. Paul and the names of our neighborhoods so they re-name parts of the city to make things easier for themselves and at the same time they show us St. Paul natives that they are not from our beloved city. Adopt a fire hydrant today. They make excellent pets because you don’t have to feed them or walk them. Fire hydrants get buried in the snow and that makes it harder for the wonderful folks at the St. Paul fire department to hook up a hose so they can put out fires. It will be your job to clear the snow around the fire hydrant that you adopt. In addition you can put a hat on it and give it a name. Continue Reading
I take photographs from these locations a couple of times a year. They offer the best views day or night any time of year. Continue Reading
