Lost of construction going on. The land is on the river near the Wabasha bridge and was once going to be the site of a large development call “Bridges of Saint Paul” that was going to be condos and restaurants and I think even a theater.
Instead we are going to have an 178-unit apartment building with 6,185 square feet of commercial space. Most of the units will be market-rate, but 20 percent — or 36 units — will be affordable to households with incomes at or below 50 percent of area median income. About 130 parking spaces will be located beneath the building, which will be five stories tall along Fillmore and four stories closer to the Mississippi River.
Little by little we are starting to recover from the great recession and the housing market crash, I offer these backhoes and heavy equipment as proof.
