Maybe I had better explain. I don’t really want warm, flat weak beer. All I am really looking for is a proper pint of English bitter, brewed and served the way it’s supposed to be. That is, moderate in alcohol, naturally carbonated, and served at cellar temperature.

It was a major oversight. When Carol and I were drafting our wedding vows, I didn’t think to insert a clause about Chinese buffets. As a result, Carol steadfastly refuses to accompany me on my all-you-can-eat expeditions, and there is not much I can do about it.
Shhhh. There is a very good, somewhat quirky new restaurant on the ground floor of the Accenture Tower in downtown Minneapolis.
It’s called Mona. But I don’t think anybody is supposed to know about it.
There is no signage outside the building to indicate that there is an eating establishment inside, and even once you enter the building at 333 S. 7th, it’s easy to overlook.
Update (i p.m. 8/6/2012): I just got a call from Mohammad Abdul Ahmad informing me that, because of a financial dispute, Abdul’s Afandy has closed.

The first thing I noticed upon entering the 1029 Bar in northeast Minneapolis was the bras. Dozens and dozens of them, hanging from the rafters. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that many of them were autographed.
