MN VIDEOS | Film festival kicks off with “The Angels’ Share” and speeches

The Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival kicked off Thursday night with speeches by local dignitaries and a screening of “The Angels’ Share” by acclaimed directed Ken Loach. The festival features over 200 films and over fifty filmmakers will be on hand to answer questions about their work. The festival goes on through April 28 and is the work of the Film Society of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

MTN hosts Youth and Politics discussion

MTN hosted a live Youth & Politics panel discussion on Friday, October 26 from 7-8 pm.The program was produced and hosted by teens at the Minneapolis Television Network.The discussion was hosted by Nate Danforth, a teen who has been active in several MTN youth programs. The panel consisted of Joe Gantenbein, a student at South High and member of the MTN/Video VOICES class, Amy O’Connell and Max Hall, members of the National Youth Rights Association (NYRA), Minneapolis City Council Member Robert Lilligren, and Minnesota State Senator Kari Dziedzic.The panel addressed issues such as barriers to youth participation in democracy, and what youth envision as the future of our political system. The show included a Question and Answer session with the studio audience, which was composed of both youth and adults.MTN’s Youth Programs create strong youth leaders among the diverse communities of Minneapolis by fostering communication skills and providing opportunities for creative expression.The show is one hour long. MTN hosts panel discussion with Minnesota Feature directors

The Minneapolis Television Network hosted a panel discussion of Minnesota Feature Film Directors at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival on Sunday, April 29.The panel was moderated by Andrew Peterson, Director of Programming for the Provincetown International Film Festival, and producer at local production company Werc Werk Werks.The panelists included Joe Dressel, director of the film, “Hope;”Stephen Gurewitz, director of “Marvin Seth and Stanley;” Susan Marks, director of “Of Dolls and Murder;” and Mong Vang and Bryan Vue, co-creators of “Journey to the Fallen Skies.” All of their films screened at the festival.Part Two Continue Reading
