Update: Hurrah!
Good news: the deficit supercommittee looks set to fail. Yes, I see the stock market is down a bunch today. I don’t care. Failure is good. Sometimes, a bad deal is better than no deal. This isn’t one of those times.
Did we learn anything from [Tuesday’s] elections, or are we just having one happy day after a good night? dan.burn’s post last night and the attached comments have the many good results, and I suspect a few got missed in there. Are there any broader lessons?
Not to say this was a well behaved group, but the protest march through downtown Minneapolis Saturday stopped at red lights and crossed on the green. Some protesters from Occupy MN set up tents in a downtown Minneapolis intersection near the occupied Government Plaza. The intersection of 6th St. and 2nd Av. S. is by the US Bank headquarters. My wife happened to be passing and recorded some video. This was recorded on a phone in noisy conditions, so the sound is rough.
I was running an information table at a public event Saturday like I did a bunch of times this summer and Fall for my senate district DFL. This was for OFA and the Hayden campaign for the special election Tuesday, though I doubt that makes a difference regarding my point.
