On a sunny May afternoon, six people set out to document the vibrant neighborhood of Hamline-Midway. The assignment: snap photos of Hamline-Midway through the lens of a camera, with an eye towards the “community assets” in the neighborhood.
With Hamline University, many distinctive businesses, a significant presence of churches, and community homes and gardens, Hamline-Midway has a lot to offer. In our post-photo walk discussion at Ginkgo Coffeehouse, we discussed the sheer abudance of community contributions that one could experience in the neighborhood.
Below, please check out a slideshow of just some of the highlights from our walk (there were over 300 photos!) This is the second of what we hope to be many community walks in the near future. If you are interested in participating in a walk (or any other Daily Planet event) in the future, make sure to follow the Daily Planet on Facebook, or check our events calendar!
