Congrats to three Lake Street businesses, recipients of the 2011 Business Achievement Awards bestowed by Lake Street Council.
Hymie’s Vintage Records for Best New Business Owner of Established Lake Street Business. “And of course we’re going to keep the name,” say new owners Laura and Dave Hoenack, because “Hymie’s wouldn’t be Hymie’s if it weren’t Hymie’s.”
Sheraton Midtown Hotel for Best Business Investment in Lake Street. Now that it feels like spring, I’m looking forward to Thursdays on the Patio overlooking the Midtown Greenway! The Sheraton Midtown employs individuals from surrounding neighborhoods and is involved with Lake Street Council, Nice Ride Minnesota, Midtown Business Association, Midtown Greenway Coalition and other community agencies.
Lake Wine & Spirits for Best New Lake Street Business Start Up. Owners Binh and Christina Le offer local and regional wines and cheeses, and keep their coolers stocked with a wide variety of kegs, single bottles craft beers and limited edition releases. Wanting to see their space become a “community hub,” they host the Uptown Beer Guild for fellow beer lovers in the neighborhood to “not only interact with beers & breweries, but also with each other.”
