Many manufacturing and pharmaceutical companies have embraced sustainability as smart business. Reducing hazardous waste and maximizing health is good for a company’s public image and good for the bottom line in the long-run.
The University of Minnesota has launched a curriculum exploring sustainability in chemistry labs, and strives to be a national leader in training the next generation of chemists and chemical engineers. Dr. Marc Hillmyer, director the University of Minnesota’s Center for Sustainable Polymers, looks forward to partnering with Minnesota industries in developing new plastics, cleansers, personal care products, and agricultural chemicals.
