I really hate shopping: to me, shopping is the definition if “un-fun”. I try to buy everything locally but sometimes that is just about impossible.
Last week I searched several stores looking for WARM woman’s boots. You would think that here in Minnesota it wouldn’t be hard to find warm boots, but it is if you want them in woman’s sizes. I found plenty of them for men and boys and little girls but none for woman.
I tried on several pair of boys boots but none of them fit well enough, most were too wide and sometimes I need to actually be able to walk a couple of miles in WARM winter boots. When I asked for warm boots at one store they told me that they just don’t sell and so they don’t carry them any more.
All of the stores had a large selection of woman’s boots but none of them had the kind of insulation or weather proofing needed to spend quality time outdoors standing in the snow or on ice in sub-zero weather, but they had high heels and came in an assortment of pretty colors. I have spent a life time limiting my opportunities because of questionable foot wear choices…never again…
So much for shopping locally. I ended up buying a fine pair of Sorel boots which I ordered online from Zappos.
The boots were shipped to Minnesota from Nevada where apparently they have warm boots. They are rated for temperatures of -40 and I’ll just have to take Sorel’s word for that because I am not going out in -40 degree weather to test them. Besides my coat is only good to about -35 which is about the average temperature during the St. Paul Winter Carnival. See you there.
