Last Thursday I posted a brief blog entry about an event that was bizarre even by St. Paul Winter Carnival standards: Whiplash the Cowboy Monkey, in town with the World’s Toughest Rodeo, was officially knighted (so now that’s Sir Whiplash, thank you very much) by Winter Carnival royalty.
The blog touched a nerve with at least a couple of readers. I demeaned myself and the Daily Planet, wrote one reader, by giving publicity to the rodeo. “The constant abuse that these poor animals receive every day of their lives is horrible. Did you know that Whiplash has his hands wired to the harness attached to the dog he is riding?”
Another reader piped up to defend the rodeo. “Whiplash the Cowboy Monkey is an American hero, and he is not abused in any way…his best friend is Tommy Lucia and I have never seen anyone love an animal so much…that guy takes better care of his animal friends than he does himself.”
What do you think? Take a look at the blog entry, and add your own comment.
