If you want to end a drought in Minneapolis, all you have to do to bring the rain is schedule three art fairs and a block party in the same weekend. Boasting an average of 375,000 attendees per year, the 46th annual Uptown Art Fair kicked off with a drizzly start Friday. Kari Logan with the Uptown Association stated that Saturday’s attendance seems to have made up for a leaner than normal first day of the fair. One could find anything from a loon shaped teapot to David Boone’s custom Chickadee birdhouse complete with copper roof trim. The Uptown Art Fair is ranked as the best art fair in Minnesota according to The Harris Guide, and draws artists from nearly every state and several other countries.
Aside from all the scheduled festivities there was a bit of unexpected entertainment Saturday night with a tornado warning that sent artists scrambling to try and protect their work. Luckily no severe weather touched down in the area.
