Both St. Paul and Minneapolis were named number 1 on the list of the top 20 best places for working mothers in 2010 by Forbes.
Last year New York City was number one, but we beat them out this year because more emphasis was given to wages. It should also be noted that while the national unemployment rate in June was 9.6%, it was 6.8% here in the Twin Cities.
Here are the top 10 locations for working women with children (and all women with children are working):
- Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn.
- Washington, D.C.
- Boston, Mass.
- Pittsburgh, Pa.
- Baltimore-Towson, Md.
- Denver, Colo.
- Hartford, Conn.
- New York
- Seattle-Tacoma, Wash.
- Buffalo-Niagara Falls, N.Y.
I just knew I would find some good news some place!
