The decades-long sense of invulnerability for Minneapolis residents was shattered by the touchdown in North Minneapolis of a tornado last year. Sirens will go off that day twice, unlike the usual monthly sounding on first Wednesdays. Residents can read more on the city’s tornado awareness page.
