Hendricks, Minnesota, which bills itself as “the perfect place to raise children” is also a nearly-perfect place for Norwegians.
Hendricks (population 725 in the 2000 census) boasts:
Our wind farm is one of the largest in the country, offsetting over 1 billion pounds of pollution annually.
Our town stirs with excitement when the Hendricks Auction Company has its monthly sale. Attending is akin to going to a museum, except everything is up for bid!
And the Norwegian claim to fame?
No one celebrates Syttende Mai, the Norwegian Independence Day, quite like we do. Every year around May 17th, we host one of the largest Syttende Mai celebrations outside of Norway.
