The movement to ban same-sex conversion therapy in Minnesota picked up the support of GLAAD (formerly the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) and other key GLBT organizations. With the collaboration of Change dot org these groups gathered over 115,000 signatures of support. In January of 2014, this proposal was introduced to the Minnesota legislature with the help of Representative Susan Allen and Senator John Marty. Despite a favorable political climate, opponents of Can’t Convert Love Minnesota talked lawmakers into avoiding the discussion, and ultimately killed the legislation before it could be heard before committee.
