Don’t miss out on the fun in Standish and Ericsson neighborhoods this summer! Put these events on your calendar now:

 

JUNE

• 9- 9th Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Maps available at the Angry Catfish Bicycle and Coffee Bar, Midtown Farmer’s Market, Holiday Station Store at 3550 Cedar Ave. S., and Caribou Coffee.

• 11 – Child-Parent Jr. Book Club, 4 p.m.,  Roosevelt Library (4026 28th Avenue S.). For children entering grade 3 and their grown-up. Join others to talk about a great book! Books are available at the information desk. Repeats on July 9. Register at www.hclib.org or call 612-543-6700.

• 14 – Community meeting to learn about Roosevelt Library renovation, 7-9 p.m., Sibley Park Recreation Center  (19th Avenue S. and East 40th St.)

• 16 – Ice Cream Social, 6-8 p.m., Sibley Park. There’s a small fee for the ice cream.  (19th Avenue S. and East 40th St.)

JULY

• 9 – Child-Parent Jr. Book Club, 4 p.m.,  Roosevelt Library (4026 28th Avenue S.). For children entering grade 3 and their grown-up. Join others to talk about a great book! Books are available at the information desk. Register at www.hclib.org or call 612-543-6700.

• 14 – Art Out of the Box: Samurai Style, 2-3 p.m., Roosevelt Library (4026 28th Avenue S.). For children entering grades 2 through 5. See what noble warriors of Japan wore during this art workshop. Register at www.hclib.org or call 612-543-6700.

• 29 – Cornfeed and outdoor movie (Henry and the Hendersons) 6:30-10:45 p.m., Sibley Park (19th Avenue S. and East 40th St.). There will be corn on the cob, face painting, concessions, live blues and rock ‘n’ roll music, moon walk, games and more! Bring your chair or blanket and bug spray for the outdoor movie that will be shown on a huge 20×25-foot screen at 8:45 p.m.

AUGUST

• 2 – National Night Out. Various block parties.

  1. • 3 – Lake Hiawatha Festival, 5-8:30 p.m., (27th Avenue S. and E. 44th St.). There will be pony rides and the 5-in-1 sports moon walk for kids, canoe rides on Lake Hiawatha, a talent contest, and a family fitness challenge. Bring your pet for a pet wash. There will be lots of delicious food for sale. The festival, now in its 16th year, is sponsored by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and the Standish-Ericsson Neighborhood Association.
