The crepe stand is gone from the Midtown Farmers Market, 2225 E. Lake St., Minneapolis but there’s a new arrival to take its place – Kabomelette, operated by chef Greg Miller and his wife Chelsea, featuring – what else? – omelettes and chicken kabobs (both $3). The chicken kabobs weren’t available when I stopped by, but I did enjoy the omelette – fillings include bacon, fried onions, zucchini, peppers and grated cheese, and I requested all of them. More ingredients will be offered as they become available at the market. (Delicious, but I have one suggestion – a side of potatoes or a slice of toast would be great.)
Greg’s day job is actually a night job – he works the overnight shift at Open Arms of Minnesota, preparing the food for their Meals on Wheels program. Kabomelette is at the Midtown Farmers Market every Saturday, and starting next week, they’ll also be coming to the market on Tuesdays from from 3 to 7 p.m., at least through the month of June.
