Cyclists throughout the city are learning the intricacies of bike maintenance – tire inflation, bake adjustment, cleaning and lubricating a bike chain and changing a tube. For Northeasters the neighborhood maintenance site is at Recovery Bike Shop on Thursday, May 24. Recovery is at 2555 Central Avenue NE.
Free and open, no registration necessary. Helmets are encouraged. Bikes, helmets and lights are available on request.
Inept non-biker that I am, I got intrigued with the Recovery Bike Shop when I wrote a piece for the Twin Cities Daily Planet many months ago. It’s a great shop with a unique story. I still stop in when I’m in the Eastside Food Coop, just to see what’s new and what’s happening. Readers might want to check that piece before the maintenance workshop – it may make your visit more fun.
