Again this year the Eastside Food Coop will participate with food coops around the state to raise awareness and donations of food or money for over 250 food shelves. It is a unique event that unites businesses, faith communities, schools and civic groups during the month of March to focus on issues of hunger and the related issues of poverty, joblessness and lack of educational opportunities.
This year EFC has set a goal of $6500. EFC funds will go to the Little Kitchen, located at Northeast Community Lutheran Church at Grace Center for Community Life, 1500 6th Street NE. The Little Kitchen is able to purchase up to $9 worth of food for each $1 donated. ECF shoppers may round up their grocery bill with a donation orvdonate non-perishable food at the store.
The Little Kitchen is also soliciting volunteer assistance. Volunteers may call Jennifer at 612 788 2444 or email Jennifer@necommunity.net.
