Don’t miss our first-ever Market Report from the Saturday Midtown Farmers Market. We talked to Ariel Pressman of Seed to Seed Farm to find out what’s new at his stand, got tips on the best way to pick out a summer squash and prepare it, and learned a little bit more about where all of his beautiful produce is grown. We think it’s a good use of a little more than a minute of your time. [Audio below]
Quick tips from Pressman:
- When looking for the perfect summer squash, bigger isn’t necessarily better. Big summer squash get pithy in the middle, so look for the smaller squash.
- A good way to enjoy a summer squash is to pop it on the grill or saute it with greens and garlic.
Seed to Seed Farm is in Clear Lake, WI, about an hour away from the market. This is Pressman’s first full season at the market.
The Midtown Farmer’s Market is open Tuesdays from 3-7 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Check out its website for more of what’s fresh at the market.
