March 2nd – 3rd: Longfellow and Seward weekend events

Our neighborhood is hopping! We couldn’t fit it all here, so be sure to check out our complete events calendar for more events and listings of all of the awesome live music that is happening at local shops in the hood.

  • Meet with Senator Torres Ray and Representative Jim Davnie for a legislative town hall at Longfellow Park. Find out what’s going on at the Capitol and ask your burning questions.
  • Develop an artistic career plan by defining your professional goals as an artist and then identifying strategies to achieve them at a workshop held at the East Lake Library.
  • Boneshaker Books has storytime every Saturday morning. Bring your little people for stories and songs.
  • Today (Friday) is meteorological spring. There’s still snow on the ground, but we’ll take what we can get. Spokes is holding an open bike shop where you can get help getting your bike ready for those spring bike rides you’ve been dreaming about.

  • Classic garage-rock band Narco States is doing an in-store performance at Hymie’s.
  • Prefer classic jazz instead? Spend your evening at the Riverview Cafe with the Zacc Harris Trio and your favorite glass of wine.

Coming Up This Week

  • Learn how to nurture a high-yield veg garden at an urban vegetable gardening class with Mother Earth Gardens.
  • Profiles, a “harrowing and numerous play” will be read at the Playwrights’ Center.
  • Middle school students at Minnehaha Academy will be performing a band concert.
  • Catch the films in the Minnesota film festival Z-Fest at the Riverview Theater.
