The House voted 129-1 Thursday to require community paramedics to undergo continuing education.
In addition to existing requirements, community paramedics would be required to take an additional 12 hours of study in clinical topics in order to renew or earn their certification.
Rep. Dan Schoen (DFL-St. Paul Park) sponsors HF75, which moves to the full Senate, where Sen. Julie Rosen (R-Fairmont) is the sponsor.
Schoen said the continuing education component was an oversight in previous legislation. The ambulance service medical director would approve the clinical topics to be studied by the community paramedic.
