FREE SPEECH ZONE | Eden Prairie Political Poppycock

A group calling itself “Eden Prairie School Board Accountability,” unsuccessfully opposed school boundary changes that will now be phased in.  The locally controversial change will help our school district narrow the learning gap and continue meeting the challenge of fewer dollars and a large population of immigrants from Somalia.

Free Speech Zone
The Free Speech Zone offers a space for contributions from readers, without editing by the TC Daily Planet. This is an open forum for articles that otherwise might not find a place for publication, including news articles, opinion columns, announcements and even a few press releases.

Among the “Eden Prairie School Board Accountability” activists are operatives who post anonymous mean, derogatory and false comments on their Facebook venue, the Star Tribune and community weekly newspapers. Eden Prairie School Board Accountability harbors and shields these bullies.  To my knowledge, no community leaders from our churches, service groups or civic watch watchdogs have held these jokers accountable.

Doug Lind I am going to do just that in a live reading of selected stuff that they have written — verbal screed, caustic gossip and conjecture.   I have also posted a new video (see below).

PRAIRIE POPPYCOCK:  THE DARK SIDE OF SCHOOL POLITICS

We will read published comments and letters-to-the editor targeting Eden Prairie School District officials and boundary changes.  The hour-long soiree will feature oratorical renderings of items found in the Star Tribune and weekly newspapers, “The Activist Next Door” blog and the “Eden Prairie School Board Accountability” Facebook forum. We will tap into our professional stints in broadcasting, journalism, corporate communications and comedy to shape a presentation we hope will alarm and amuse at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday November 2 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday November 6.   There is no charge for readings which will occur at Eden Wood Center, 6350 Indian Chief Road in Eden Prairie – south of Glen Lake Golf via Edenvale  Blvd. or the Crosstown Highway.  Call me for more information at 952-949-8980.

THERE’S MORE!   There is an EP school board election for 4 seats on the panel on November 8.  The dark side wants to flip the board in hopes of reversing the boundary change.

AND EVEN MORE!  Our two readings were originally scheduled for a local coffee house but were cancelled when the manager began receiving a battery of negative emails.  The Dunn Bros. Coffee House on Eden Prairie Road has an outstanding record of providing space for public meetings organized by political candidates and parties, issue driven speakers and community groups and the like.   The cancellation of our event by the initial venue demonstrated that this group will threaten a small business — it just did. We have no issues with the coffee house.  We do with the bullies.

And so I have quickly produced and posted on YouTube, a Timid Video Theater satire about Eden Prairie School Board Accountability.  A humorous take on the dark side of Eden Prairie politics characterizes the video as it will our live readings.
