NEIGHBORHOOD NOTES | Don’t miss family-fun winter festivals

Bring the family for a fun-filled day at Sibley Park on Saturday, Jan. 28. Start with a pancake breakfast, served between 9:30 and 11 a.m. There will be events both inside and out from 10 a.m. to noon. Participate in arts and crafts projects, watch a movie, or go on a scavenger hunt or medallion hunt. There will also be hockey games, sled races, ice bowling, and skating. The winter carnival at Lake Hiawatha will be held this year on Saturday, Feb. 11. The Lake Hiawatha Heart Warmer showcases the many small, independently owned businesses in the Standish-Ericsson neighborhood. Enjoy live music, ice skating games (with prizes), a free hayride, and a kids DJ. There will also be free hot dogs and veggie dogs and a bonfire for roasting marshmallows. • Adult Tae Kwon Do, Tuesday and Thursdays, 7 p.m.
• Frozen Fiesta, Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. Art projects and stories that focus on winter. Please be prepared to spend most of the class outdoors. Warm hats, gloves, and jackets are required.
• Kids Night Out, Fridays, 6 p.m., five and up, weekly activities from movies to special games to parties. $6 fee for dinner.\
• Lake Hiawatha Heart Warmer, Feb. 11. Winter carnival.
• Little Lakers, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pick Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. Year-round preschool program. All children must be able to use the bathroom independently. Lunch and beverage required each day from home.
• Sing and Dance, Fridays, Feb. 3 to March 9, 10 a.m. Activities will be geared toward children 3 and under, but older siblings are also welcome to attend. Inspire a love of music in your young child through song, finger plays, movement, and instrument play. $40 fee.
• Tae Kwon Do, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 p.m.
• Tai Chi, Saturdays, 9 a.m.
• Yoga, Saturdays, 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., $6 fee per week

• Ice Skating, anytime. Free skate rental. Warming house. Skate lessons also available.
• Busy Bees Preschool, Tuesdays to Thursdays, 9 a.m. (Extended hour sessions also available.)
• Game Night, Mondays, 6:30 p.m. Tournaments with a variety of games including foosball, bumper pool, board games, and card games. Prizes go to the winners every other Monday. Drop in program.
• Ice Skating Lessons: Beginners 4-9 years old, Saturdays at noon and Wednesdays at 6 p.m.
• Nature Art, Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m.
• Parent and Tot Tumbling, Wednesdays at 5 p.m. and 5:40 p.m. This 8-week program will include aspects of gymnastics with jumps, rolls, flips as well as introduction to the balance beam. This is a parent assisted class. Parents will need to assist the instructor with their own kids.
• Preschool/Kindergarten Tumbling, Wednesdays at 6:20 p.m.
• Rainbow Kids Preschool, Mondays and Fridays, 9 a.m.
• Senior Luncheon, Feb. 7, March 6, 11:30 a.m.
• Sno Daze, Saturday, Jan. 28, 9:30 a.m. Family fun-filled day of food and activities. Pancake breakfast 9:30 a.m. till 11 a.m. Games and fun from 10 a.m. to noon.
• Snowy Nature Stories, Tuesdays, Feb. 7-28, 10:30 a.m.
• Spots Council – Sibac, second Thursday of each month, 7 p.m.
