You’re invited to the third annual Daily Planet Greek Feast will be held on Wednesday, April 11 at the Gardens of Salonica restaurant, 19 5th St. N.E., Minneapolis. This dinner has sold out every time, and it’s easy to see why: it’s great fun, great food and great value. Four courses of delicious Greek cuisine served family style, prepared by Gardens of Salonica owner-chef Anna Christoforides, with specially selected Greek wines accompanying each course. Plus a great opportunity to meet and socialize with the Daily Planet staff, and other Daily Planet writers and readers.
Here’s how Anna describes the menu:
Spring is pushing up everywhere. At the Gardens of Salonica, celebrate the first tastes of spring with Hortopita–a blend of the freshest, local greens folded into pita, and Artichoke hearts baked in cheese. Follow up with fragrant, traditional Easter bread and yogurt baked in vine leaves. For your entree pass platters of Schultz organic chicken braised in white wine and olive oil simmered with flat leaf parsley and finished in a zingy light lemon sauce and chunks of lamb oven braised with veggies in a fragrant sauce. Dessert will delight with light semolina cream tucked into crisp fillo and topped with fresh organic berries in wine sauce.
Please make your reservations soon; cost is $35 per person for Twin Cities Daily Planet member-supporters and their guests, and $40 for non-members, and I expect they will sell out quickly. If you have made a donation to the Twin Cities Media Alliance in the past 12 months, you qualify as a member of the Daily Planet; if you are not currently a member, any gift of $10 or more will qualify you as a member or renew your membership.
We have kept the price of the dinner very low because we want to make this experience accessible to as many people as possible, but we will gratefully acknowledge any additional contribution you are able to make.
