Soon drivers traveling along Cedar Avenue between Lake Street and 46th Ave. will be traveling down new pavement. But until mid-September, those drivers will be traveling through a construction site.
The cones have been up on Cedar all summer long. A mill and overlay project began on Aug. 21 following several months of utility work.
Milling will continue through Sept. 4. The paving portion of the work will run from Sept. 5-11.
Cedar will remain open during the project, but there may be delays. At times, the road will be down to one lane, and the street lights aren’t always functioning.
Currently, E. 46th Ave. is closed to eastbound traffic between 34th Ave. S and Hiawatha Ave. Travelers can still access the train station and bus stop from Hiawatha, but the road is blocked for those coming from 34th.
The recommended detour is on 42nd St.
