NEIGHBORHOOD NOTES | Cafe Levain

Print

Some days…it feels like you go to the same restaurant repeatedly and it’s okay. Other days…you want to find some place fresh to renew your taste buds and appreciation for cuisine.

Cafe Levain – 4762 Chicago Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55407 (612) 823-7111

I am so glad that I decided to check out Cafe Levain last week. Tucked away on a side street in South Minneapolis…it’s a cute, intimate restaurant with dark walls and an open kitchen for all food admirers to indulge in.

The menu was small, but good, because it’s not overwhelming. I ordered the organic salmon which the server promised not to be fishy…and she was right. They topped it with pickled onions, capers and thin slices of lemon…which brought out the flavor of the salmon but had a unique citrusy and refreshing kick to it.

I also tried their lemon tart brulee which was also very tart and delicious.

If you want a place to catch up with friends…this is it…it was quiet the Thursday night when I showed up…and I imagine it must be like that during the weekdays.

Parking is tough (especially with the snow) so arrive early to seek out a spot and not keep your dinner companions waiting.
