VISUAL ARTS | Bridget Beck’s “Locomotive Art” runs on senior citizens’ creativity

Artist Bridget Beck partnered with eight long-term care centers around the Twin Cities to create an interactive mobile sculpture called Locomotive Art. From spring to late summer of 2012 the centers each hosted workshops where residents produced art pieces that were attached to the large-scale traveling locomotive sculpture. The art piece was then driven to each facility so the residents that worked on the sculpture could sign it and see how their pieces of art were worked into the whole sculpture. Bridget’s goal was to bring movement and adventure into the lives of the residents’ usual daily routines. She dedicates this work to her grandparents. The eight centers where the art was created are:Good Samaritan Center Heritage Place-Roseville Golden Living Center- St. Continue Reading
