Baseball: Not an obsession, but a love

Football is the only sport that trumps all other sports when it comes to media attention—and the football season is officially over. There are two radio stations that I listen to regularly that are advertised as 24-hour sports stations. Some people who talk about sports are better than others. THEATER | At Plymouth Playhouse, wonderfully “Marvelous Wonderettes”

I was at Plymouth Playhouse on Saturday to see The Marvelous Wonderettes. This was my second visit to Plymouth Playhouse, the first being to review Away In The Basement, A Church Basement Ladies Christmas. As with my first visit, I found myself truly enjoying this venue—it is a warm, inviting, very comfortable theater. Maybe that is part of the reason I have thoroughly enjoyed both of the shows I have seen there. The Marvelous Wonderettes takes the audience back to the 1958 Senior Prom at Springfield High School. Minnesota Twins baseball at Target Field: It’s a “happening”

Baseball has worn me out this summer, and it’s all because of Target Field. A baseball game at Target Field is a “happening,” as we used to say. Every game has 40,000+ fans. There are so many new concessions I want to try. The scoreboard continues to amaze me. I have given up keeping score because everything I would ever want to see is available at a glance. Amid highs and lows, life and baseball go on

For the past month baseball again became the rhythm in my life when things were turning upside down. My mother has been in the hospital three times this past month and faces a long rehab after a pacemaker implant and then a broken hip. My siblings and I have spent lots of time driving to New Ulm, sitting in hospital rooms, talking to medical staff and taking care of Mom’s needs. Continue Reading
