Help Make MayDay
Built and preformed by and for the community
An excellent opportunity to learn from others and share your knowledge and skills. MayDay is a gumbo of creatives and social progressives that are concerned and involved in making this world a nourishing and sustaining environment and having fun in that process.
All are welcomed. All abilities are cherished. If you can enjoy other people you are a qualified MayDay architect.
help create and if inclined join the troupe of actors
non-acting volunteer positions abound as well
In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre (hobt.org) are the instigating and artistic directors in the MayDay Celebration. MayDay Sunday May 3, 2015. MayDay — always the first Sunday in May (rain date one-week later).
A Parade built during April by the community, advances down Bloomington Avenue in South Minneapolis for about ten blocks before flooding into Powderhorn Park. The park is the MayDay Festival for Sunday. The paraders and spectators converge to the western shore of Powderhorn Lake at Ceremony Hill.
practice for MayDay Ceremony 2010
With the dedication of volunteers doing innumerable tasks, a community pageant enacts the year’s Parade theme. A theme that was derived from community meetings held in the first months of the year. Musicians, actors, support staff, talented and less-talented welcome Spring, and celebrate each other. People parade and celebrate people and place. Always something new each year and a salute to the recurrence of nature and traditions, such as the Tree of Life, a tradition of 40 years in 2014.
Or just enjoy a Parade!
