To celebrate thebeginning of the month and all the activities and celebrations that will follow, people and organizations gathered at Little Earth on Friday, May 1 for a parade through the Phillips Neighborhood. The parade ended at the Minneapolis American Indian Center, for a community Health Fair, a feast, and the unveiling of a new mural on the side of the Center.
American Indian Month began in Minneapolis, with the annual celebration of American Indian Week by the American Indian Movement.
