May is American Indian Month in Minneapolis. To celebrate thebeginning of the month and all the activities and celebrations that will follow, people and organizations gathered at Little Earth on Friday, May 1 for a parade through the Phillips Neighborhood. The parade ended at the Minneapolis American Indian Center, for a community Health Fair, a feast, and the unveiling of a new mural on the side of the Center.
American Indian Month began in Minneapolis, with the annual celebration of American Indian Week by the American Indian Movement.
