On May 22nd, PRM filed suit against the U.S. Department of Justice, seeking legal opinions related to the use of lethal force by UAV drones within the United States. We filed our initial FOIA request in this matter in October of 2011, in the wake of news reports that chronicled the killing of al-Qeada operative (and U.S. citizen) Anwar al-Awlaki by a Predator drone. DHS seeks retroactive review of public health care spending

Earlier this year, the Minnesota Legislature passed legislation that would – for the first time – subject Minnesota’s public health care programs to independent, third-party audits. This action occurred in the wake of mounting criticism over how the state’s “managed care” programs – which disburse public funds through non-profit HMOs – were being handled.

PRM files suit against DOJ, seeks records on domestic use of UAVs

On May 22nd, Public Record Media filed suit against the U.S. Department of Justice, seeking records that the agency had withheld from PRM’s October, 2011 FOIA request. The records at the center of the lawsuit deal with legal opinions about the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to deliver lethal force against persons located inside of the United States.

The history of Minnesota’s managed care controversy

Since late last year, PRM has been following developments in the ongoing debate over the transparency of Minnesota’s public health care programs. These programs bundle state and federal funds together, and disburse them through the non-profit HMOs that administer the state’s public health care programs.
