Ice rinks at most Minneapolis parks will be closed for the season on Tuesday, February 19th, including the rinks at Longfellow, Hiawatha, and Matthews parks.
According to the Parks and Recreation Board, “Because most park rinks are located atop athletic fields, prolonged usage could be detrimental to field conditions and cause delays in preparing fields for spring athletic programs.”
If you aren’t ready to hang up your skates yet, ice rinks at Lake of the Isles, Bohanon, McRae, and Van Cleve parks will remain open until March 3rd, weather permitting.
