Get to know the school community and support your community by attending Waite Park’s Spring Gala & Silent Auction on Saturday, April 9 from 7 – 11 p.m. at Eastside Neighborhood Services, 1700 2nd Street NE, Minneapolis.
The event is the largest single fundraiser for Waite Park Community School.
“This is our third annual gala, and the last two were very successful,” Jenn Bennington, a member of the Waite Park PTA, said.
“It’s a lot of work for us to put it together, but it’s a really fun way for the community to get together and celebrate our school. Lots of teachers usually show up, which is fun for those of us who are always excited to talk about what our kids are doing at school.”
Participants can expect a buffet of great tasting food donated by local northeast restaurants like Hazel’s NE, Holy Land, Emily’s Lebanese Deli, Gasthof zur Gemutlichkeit, Sen Yai Sen Lek and more. Central Avenue Liquors and Barley John’s Brew Pub will donate wine and beer as well.
This year’s silent auction features some exciting weekend getaways like a condo in the Wisconsin Dells over MEA weekend, a ski weekend at Copper Mountain in Colorado, and much more.
Other items for auction include an American Girl Doll, gift certificates to restaurants, theater tickets, art and crafts from local artisans, and fun baskets put together by each classroom at Waite Park according to various themes, such as “spa day,” “game night,” etc.
There will also be both a meat and wine raffle.
Carla Steinbach, Edison Principal will mc the event.
Although this is an adults-only event, childcare can be provided for $20 for the first child, $10 for each additional child in the same family, through Waite Park Recreation Center, 1810 34th Ave. NE.
The money raised at this event provides field trips, special classroom academic projects, equipment and supplies and other valuable school programs such as safety patrol, family nights and assemblies.
Tickets are only $15 per person in advance or $20 at the door. They can be purchased in the school office, at the Waite Park Rec Center, and online at: http://waiteparkpta.blogspot.com
