It’s nice when sh*t work out. It looked like publicity for the book was gon’ be scattered. But, the pieces couldn’t have fallen into place any better if Anura Si-Asar and I had sat down and planned it this way. Something I Said (Papyrus Publishing, Inc. $14.99) is gets promotion at my girl Kinshasha Kambui’s program “Health Notes From the Heart of a Natural Woman” (KFAI Radio) and by my man Bill Borea at “The Soapbox” (MTN Ch-17). And via Flava News Radio, an April 10 appearance for On The Leopard Carpet with Lady Flava (www.blogtalkradio.com/flavanews), 6PM Pacific Time, 8PM Central, 9 Eastern. All in synch to coordinate word on the release event, the book signing. At Golden Thymes Coffee & Café, 921 Selby Ave., St. Paul, 6:30 – 7:30PM, April 20. Can’t beat it. Not with a baseball bat.
For On The Leopard Carpet with Lady Flava, pretty much arranged not so much an interview as a conference call. With Mahmoud El-Kati, who wrote the foreword for Something I Said, Roger E. Lear, one of the two producers I haven’t had to fire off a music project. And, of course, Anura, who hung with me from jump to make the book happen. It’ll run an hour and a half. We may be able to fit everything in. Plus a music track or three. “Pretty Girl” and “End It All Over Again” for sure.
Still pinching myself over placing a short play at Minnesota African American Museum & Cultural Center. On Jackie Robinson. The working title is Robinson. No word on when it goes up, but it’s been cast. No worries. You have any idea how hard it is to place a script? I’m grateful and a half for that.
Like I said, Nice!
