In 2008 our inaugural blooming event was well embraced by the West End community of neighbors and businesses. In keeping with this success, we are pleased to announce the 2009 West End Neighbors’ Garden Tour taking place Saturday June 6th from 10am to 4pm. Featuring 16 gardens, 13 homes and 3 businesses along the West 7th Street corridor, the self-guided tour will showcase the gardens of elegant homes in Irvine Park and Uppertown to those nestled in Pipps Glen, and the period gardens of the Alexander Ramsey House to the plant displays of the acclaimed Highland Nursery.
We’ve collaborated with the West End Arts group this year to have strolling musicians and plein air painters in various gardens. At the Fort Road Federation parking lot, 974 West 7th Street, a plant sale will offer daylilies, hosta and many other plant divisions from gardens on the tour. Visit our wonderful neighborhood businesses in-between touring the gardens or have lunch at one of the fine restaurants along West 7th. We invite everyone to this free event!
Complete information including a printable map showing the garden locations for the self-guided tour and our associated plant sale is available at this website: http://www.fortroadfederation.org If you would like to call for more information, please contact Kent Petterson at 651-222-5536.
Map booklets will also be available on the day of the tour at these locations: The Alexander Ramsey House, 265 Exchange Street; Fort Road Federation, 974 West 7th Street; and Highland Nursery, 1742 West 7th Street.
