West Bank walking tour

In October, the Minnesota History Center will launch a new exhibit about the year 1968. It’s described as “an ambitious, state-of-the-art, multi-media exhibit that looks at how the experiences of the year fueled a persistent, if often contradictory, sense of identity for the people who were there.”

The exhibit was designed and assembled by the Minnesota Historical Society in partnership with the Atlanta History Center, the Chicago History Museum and the Oakland Museum of California. It will travel to all those places, but there’s one experience that connects to this exhibit that you can only have in Minnesota, and that’s the West Bank Walking Tour.

On September 24th and on again on October first, Aleah Vinick will lead a walking tour of the area around Cedar and Riverside, sometimes called Minneapolis’ answer to Haight Ashbury. The area’s history is rich with music and colorful stories. Aleah Vinick spoke with Noel Clark on The Takeaway. [Audio below]
