Arrivals and departures
Citing time constraints, TCMA board members Shannon Gibney and Mary Stuckey have resigned. We thank Shannon and Mary for their good work and wish them well in their various pursuits. Meanwhile, we welcome Lauretta Dawolo to the board. Lauretta is a staff writer for the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder whose work is a regular feature of the Daily Planet. Also moving on in the past week is our Media editor, Jeff Nygaard, who lamented that he wasn’t able to give the job enough attention. The good news is that Jeff’s popular media site, Nygaard Notes, is now a Daily Planet media partner, so readers will still be able to enjoy his insightful analysis of local and national media trends. Thanks, Jeff.

Speaking of new media partners, we’re delighted to announce that two major voices of the Latino community have agreed to partner with the Daily Planet. Gente de Minnesota and La Prensa de Minnesota have agreed to share their content with us. Along with Lazos Hispanos, these new partners offer Daily Planet readers the best coverage of Latino issues in the Twin Cities.

WiFi update
Minneapolis officials have pushed back the date of the Wireless Minneapolis pilot projects to mid June, but Daily Planet content will be featured on both the U.S. Internet and the Earthlink pilot sites. We’re recruiting citizen-reporters who are interested in covering Cedar-Riverside and the Near North neighborhoods where the WiFi pilots will be based. If you want to be part of the project, please contact Craig at 612/436-9185 or craig@tcdailyplanet.net.
