TPT, Daily Planet reps meet on possible partnership
Twin Cities Media Alliance chair Jeremy Iggers and operations manager Becky Clawson met earlier this week with Lucy Swift, the newly hired director of partnership development for Twin Cities Public Television. TPT is in the midst of strategizing ways to strengthen its service to local communities, particularly to area nonprofits, via its Minnesota Channel programming, and the meeting helped shed light on their goals and outreach methods. While no specific partnerships between the Daily Planet and TPT are pending, the meeting provided an interesting window into how TPT views its mission in the Twin Cities.

E-Democracy neighborhood forums taking shape
The Twin Cities Media Alliance is part of a consortium of organizations–including the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis Public Library, Minneapolis CCP-Safe, and the Charter Committee of the St. Paul Issues forum–that met last week with Steven Clift of E-Democracy.org on a pilot project to help create online neighborhood forums in five diverse Twin Cities neighborhoods. The group is helping to shape the project’s parameters so that a funding proposal can be drafted, and will be involved in the project itself once funding is secured. We’ll continue to keep you posted on this effort as it proceeds.

Artie Martinez joins TCMA board of directors
Local criminal defense attorney Artie Martinez has joined the TCMA board of directors. The board unanimously approved the nomination of Martinez, a longtime political activist and Radio Rey commentator, on Tuesday.

Twin Cities Indy Media now a media partner
Twin Cities Indy Media, for nearly a decade the center of activist media in the metro area, has become a Daily Planet media partner. The Indy Media collective has restructured after a bit of a lull in recent months and has revamped its Web site (http://www.twincities.indymedia.org).
