Save the date for the UPDC 2011 Annual Meeting of the Membership that will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2011.  The evening begins at 6:30pm with food and an open house. The meeting will be 7-9pm where you can meet city representatives and vote on community members to work for you on a variety of issues.  We look forward to seeing you there!

We need you!

Union Park District Council is a nonprofit made up of an all-volunteer board of directors.  We need new board members!  Serving as a director on a district council is a great opportunity to make a difference in your neighborhood.

And yes – from asphalt to flowers?  Many of the neighborhoods in our district have flower gardens and safer traffic thanks to the work of past board members and conscious votes.  You can make a difference, too!Union Park District Council is a nonprofit made up of an all-volunteer board of directors.  We need new board members!  Serving as a director on a district council is a great opportunity to make a difference in your neighborhood.

Director positions that need to be filled through re-election or vacancy include:
Representatives for grids 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15
At-large Residential Director for Merriam Park, Snelling-Hamline, and Lexington-Hamline areas
At-large Nonprofit Director
At-large Business Director
Applying is easy!

First: Fill out the application!
Simply visit our website, www.unionparkdc.org, to download an application.

Second: Identify your supporters!
Our bylaws ask that each applicant gain 5 signatures from others who live/own within the grid to support the board application.  That is a great opportunity to get out and meet your neighbors!

Eligibility: Any person who resides in the grid they represent, who owns property, owns a business or is the business owner designee within that grid are eligible to apply.

Deadline: Completed applications are due by September 26, 2011, for election at the Annual District Meeting on October 12, 2011.

Take the survey!  Creating a Vision for the Union Park Neighborhood
The Union Park District Council will be starting its district planning process this summer!  A new Union Park District Plan will be created, incorporating the vision for all Union Park neighborhoods.  What would you like to see for the next ten years?  We want to hear about your vision for the future – as we will be collecting information from residents and neighbors just like you throughout the summer.  Keep a look out for information about community meetings and events for the district planning process.

If you have an interest in land use, transportation, parks & recreation, housing, water resource management, historic preservation we need your opinions and assistance!  Or if you know of a committee member, past board member or resident with an interest or expertise in one of these areas that we should be in contact with, let us know!
