THURSDAY PICK | Pat O’Brien goes back “Underneath the Lintel”

Actor Pat O’Brien (not to be confused with the local writer who tweets as @brokenhalo) is the kind of guy who makes the Twin Cities theater scene so great. He’s not above taking the stage to reprise his role as Mr. Dewey, the teacher he played on the TV show Saved By the Bell, but he’s also the guy behind one of the most compelling one-man shows around, Underneath the Lintel. Reviewing the show’s run at the Minnesota Fringe Festival in 2011, I wrote, “O’Brien succeeds by immediately going for the throat. His character, after decades of mindless labor, suddenly in his autumn years discovers a grand quest, and over the course of the hour O’Brien works himself from steadfast dedication to a raving fury.”  O’Brien will be presenting Underneath the Lintel at Camp Cabaret in St. Paul from March 29 through April 1.
