ST. PAUL NOTES | New businesses in Midway and Merriam Park

Fortune Wok announced its grand opening on University Avenue, in the midst of the construction zone. The restaurant, located in the Griggs building at Fairview and University, has lots of tables, though its main business seems to be in takeout and delivery. I’m not sure how long they have been open, but the menu arrived on my doorstep this week, and it’s been open at least a few weeks. (Phone 651-287- 1880/1881)

Kopplin’s Coffee is coming to Merriam Park in November, with a Grand Re-Opening the day after Thanksgiving on Marshall Avenue. Neighbors know the coffeehouse location — formerly My Living Room Café and, before that, A Fine Grind. The block includes Izzy’s Ice Cream, Sweets Bakeshop and, around the corner, Trotter’s Cafe and Bakery. Andrew Kopplin blogs:

This was not an easy decision to make (I spent many of my last 6 years at 490 Hamline Ave, even sleeping there on more than one occasion, it can sometimes feel more like home than my house); however, we’re excited about what the next chapter brings.

Kopplin’s has a Facebook page, too.
