Solidarity rallies planned Tuesday in the Twin Cities


Supporters of worker rights will hold rallies to show solidarity with Wisconsin workers and “defend the dream” Tuesday in the Twin Cities. Both events are hosted by A Solidarity Rally for Wisconsin Workers will start at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 S. 6th St. in downtown Minneapolis.

Eliot Seide, director of AFSCME Council 5, the largest state employees’ union, will be master of ceremonies.

Also on Tuesday, is holding a Defend the Dream rally at 5:30 p.m. in Rice Park in downtown St. Paul.

The national AFL-CIO has called on all unions and supporters to participate in a Day of Action Monday, April 4. Events, which are yet to be announced, will be scheduled across the nation.

April 4 is the anniversary of the assassination of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who was killed in Memphis, Tenn., while supporting striking sanitation workers.
