THURSDAY PICK | Victor Herbert’s “Mademoiselle Modiste” tips her hat at Concordia University

Victor Herbert’s 1905 operetta Mademoiselle Modiste is rarely performed today, but it was often staged in the early 20th century on the strength of hit single (in sheet music) “Kiss Me Again.” Modiste is being performed at Concordia University from June 8-16 as part of Skylark Opera’s summer festival. You won’t go wrong catching a twofer and also seeing the other opera in the festival, Leonard Bernstein’s Wonderful Town. After either show, you’ll be humming sweet melodies—in tune or not—all the way home.
