NEIGHBORHOOD NOTES | Shedding Winter Clothing and Shredding Snow at Mount Como

Print

Hours of operation at Mount Como Ski Hill were extended this year and Presidents Day weekend will be the last opportunity to hit the slopes. The record-setting snowfall this year of over 60 inches created ideal conditions for the downhill ski and snowboard crowd. As the temps climb, the layers will come off. Como Park is the only in-town ski destination, located at 1431 North Lexington Parkway. Lift tickets start at $9. Private ski and snowboard lessons are available, call ahead to schedule a time (651) 488-9673. The chalet will be in full operation, so pick up your equipment on your way out to the hill, and a snack on your way back in. The local forecast is for temps above 30.

Closing weekend hours will be Saturday, Feb. 19 – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 20 – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 21 (President’s Day and a day off school for SPPS) – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information: www.stpaul.gov/parks
