The Republicans are coming

Governor Tim Pawlenty, Republican party state chair Don Carey and Twin Cities mayors Coleman and Rybak announced Wednesday afternoon that the Republican
Party had officially decided to hold its 2008 convention in the Twin Cities.

Most of the meetings will take place in St. Paul’s Xcel Center, but there will be plenty of activities in other parts of the cities.

With their announcement, the Republicans beat out the Democrats who were thought to have made the same decision but held off their official announcement.
Since the conventions closely follow each other, having both parties meet here is not feasible.
