Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter is being targeted by the religious right because the freshman orientation skit at the college discusses sexual orientation and safer sex. The Illinois Family Institute – located two states away from Minnesota – took issue with the skit calling it “repugnant.”
Laurie Higgins, Director of IFI’s Division of School Advocacy, complained that “there is no representation of the view that modesty matters. There is no representation of the view that pornography is evil and the use of it destructive to the moral imaginations, lives, and marriages of men and women. There is no representation of the view that homosexuality and sadomasochism are perversions.”
Here’s one clip of the skit captured by homophobic rabble-rouser Phil Cleary. Qweerty has the run down on who Cleary is and why he’s so offended by queers and safer sex.
